Ultimately we agreed to create a film introduction based off of the horror genre, by doing so my groupmates and I need to research and analyze the basic conventions of a horror film. To begin our research each group member selected 2-3 films to view and analyze, Tessa chose Get Out (Peele, 2017) and Truth or Dare (Simon, 2017), Nova chose Paranormal Activity (Peli, 2007), The Blair Witch Project (Myrick & Sanchez, 1999) and I Trapped the Devil (Lobo, 2019), while I selected It Follows (Mitchell, 2014), The Invitation (Kasuma, 2015), and Unfriended (Gabriadze, 2014). Each of these films demonstrates vital elements of a horror film that we all need to be aware of in order to properly create our film and an intended meaning behind it. Especially when we are making a film on such a low budget it is important to note that each of the films we chose was a low budget independent film that later gained important popularity. We really wanted to have the feeling of a ritual gone wrong/ found footage so it was important to understand all of our potential options when we are designing how we wanted our film introduction to look.
